Professor of Social Sciences Education at the University of Murcia. Vice-Dean for Academic Planning at the Faculty of Education. Member of the Council of Europe group of experts that carries out the report on the teaching of history. Doctorate (PhD) in Educational Research from the University of Alicante (2011), with European Mention and Extraordinary Doctorate Award for his thesis 'El retrato en el Fondo de Arte de la Región de Murcia: tipologías y enseñanza' (Portraits in the Murcia Regional Art Collection: Typologies and Teaching). He has a degree in History of Art and a Masters in Research and Management of Historical, Artistic and Cultural Heritage (University of Murcia). He has also completed pre-doc training courses at the Universities of Naples (Italy) and Oxford (UK). He currently teaches Didactics of Social Sciences at the University of Murcia (2017-present), a position he also held at the University of Alicante (between 2011 and 2017), focusing on the teaching of history through art history, historical sources, historical thinking skills, historical awareness, heritage, democracy and active methods for learning history. He has been awarded the Teaching Excellence Award by the University of Murcia (docentia). His research, which has been awarded with Sexenio de Investigación (Tenure: high quality six-year production period) by the CNEAI, includes more than a hundred publications in journals among the main scientific quality indexes, as well as books, chapters, participation in conferences and other articles for scientific dissemination. His research focuses on the didactics of history, the development of historical thought, historical awareness, narratives and interpretations, democracy, new teaching methods, gender education and the teaching of art history. He has participated in more than a dozen publicly funded R&D+i research projects at regional (Seneca Foundation), national and international levels. In fact, he has been Principal Investigator (PI) in two Erasmus+ KA2 projects involving countries such as Norway, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, Sweden, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Lithuania and Slovakia. He received a special mention for teaching in the Magisterio awards thanks to the international project HistoryLab. He has also carried out several collaborative stays at the Universities of Bologna (Italy) and Burgos (Spain), as well as teaching stays at the University of Costa Rica, the University of South Florida (USA), the Università di Roma Trè (Italy) and Harvard University (USA). Outside the academic field, his work as coordinator of the Historical Commission of Real Murcia C.F. stands out, where he organises exhibitions, publications and other events aimed at highlighting the centenary history of the club.
