Abstract

Abstract Sialic acid and its derivatives are an important group of biomolecules involved in many biological phenomena. Its synthesis and application is of great interest in the pharmaceutical industry for the production of anti-influenza drugs and in the food industry for the development of nutraceuticals. Therefore, this thesis studies ways to obtaining enzymes (N-acetyl neuraminte lyase and N-acetyl neuraminate synthase) from non-pathogenic bacteria, using molecular biology techniques, for possible use as biocatalysts, as well as the development of enzyme immobilization techniques to obtain more powerful and manageable biocatalyst for application in the synthesis of Neu5Ac and KDN. To complete this study molecular and kinetic studies of the different enzymes obtained were performed and phylogenetic study of their presence in microorganisms.
