Resumo

Social inclusion, art and functional diversity are three concepts with different historical trajectories that when united are generators of social change. Throughout history, art has been a vehicle of expression, through which human beings have communicated to the rest of society their vision of the world, changing its purpose over the years. Artistic changes are generated quickly, from the faithful representation of reality to the arrival of photography, reaching the avant-garde and so on, art has a special role during the different social movements making use of it to achieve social transformation. Along with art, the role of the spectator also changes, from having a passive view of the world around him to being actively involved in all the changes. In this way, different approaches emerge in which art is the vehicle of expression of the person: art education, art mediation, art therapy and community art. However, not only art has changed throughout history, but also the vision of society towards people with functional diversity, and institutions such as the World Health Organization and UNESCO, among others, have participated in this process. Currently there are many associations that carry out different projects of social inclusion with people with functional diversity in which art is the main instrument. Our general objective is to analyze the artistic practices carried out by professionals working in associations of the Region of Murcia for people with intellectual disabilities and their influence on social inclusion. As for the methodology, the information was collected through a questionnaire, being participants the professionals in artistic activity of the associations of people with intellectual disabilities in the Region of Murcia. This research gives an insight into the dispersion of artistic approaches used in Murcia associations, how these artistic activities promote social inclusion among members of associations and society in general through participation in various artistic and cultural projects.
