Resum

The archaeological works, have been carried out in the last years in the Sierra Minera de la Union-Cartagena and Mazarrón,together with the study of the graphical and the historical literary documentation have allowed us to define the rangeof deposits in the ancient territory of Carthago-Nova, one of the most important mining areas in the Iberian Peninsula, related to mining and metallurgical exploitation and where a lots of lead-ore and silver-ore came from. In this sense wemake a difference among the different kinds of mining works, skilled labours, prior mineral treatment installations, orepanning sites, smelting places, dumps, houses and administration areas or even Sanctuaries. Furthermore, the study of allthese archaeological sites has provided us very interesting data about the occupation model that was established in thearea, the development of the mining works or the minerals and metals’ distribution and trading channels.
