Zusammenfassung

Cooperative work is a perfect method for the teaching and learning of competenceswhich uses tasks to train professionals but also individuals capable of meetingsociety’s needs. Nowadays, activities facilitating self-learning and encouragingteamwork are being carried out in the translation classroom. Teamwork implies thatall members collaborate to achieve a common goal. In this way, it is expected toobtain better results than when using other teaching/learning methodologies. The present study aims at testing whether cooperative learning plays a role in thetranslation quality of students’ assignments. Our hypothesis is that translationassignments carried out in teamwork will be of a higher quality than those carried outindividually. In order to test this hypothesis, five translation assignments were markedby the two authors of the paper. Each team received one assignment and the rest ofthe students did the other assignments which were not given to their team.Translation products by teams and by individuals were compared. Results showedthat there are interesting differences between teamwork and individual work, whichsuggest that cooperative learning has an impact on translation quality
