Abstract

Nowadays, when we talk about education, the importance of the term “competence”is day to day more important. In the Spanish educative system, all educative levelsare designed around competencies and, at least in the university level, there aredifferent levels of competencies: general competencies of the University, competencies of the degree and some competencies in every subject.Nobody doubts about the interest of competencies in Higher Education and ont ehneed of designing pedagogically, thinking on these competencies, specially once theprocess of the integration of Spanish universities in the Eauropean Higher EducationArea has been completed. In this context, and with the main goal of helping our students to develop specificcompetencies, we design the course “ICT for Social Education” for the first course ofthe degree in Social Education. In this course we have implemented an activemethodology based on a task based learning process that has impacted not only inthe syllabus, but in organization of classes and, off course, in the course’s evaluation. In this paper we describe the kind of work done, trying to be useful for teachers thatwant –such as us- to work on similar dynamics for trying to emancipate their studentsas more autonomous learners
