Abstract

The aim of this work was to evaluate the plasmatic levels of cortisol and catecholamines in two types of Manchega breed lamb (suckling and light) in farm, after transport and after lairage previous slaughter. In light lambs only significant differences (P<0.001) were found among different blood sampling times in adrenaline level, higher after transport. In suckling lambs blood sampling time affected (P < 0.001) both cortisol and adrenaline (higher in farm and after lairage respectively). However, all blood sampling times showed similar level of noradrenalin. Catecholamines level were higher in light lambs that in suckling lambs (P < 0.001 in farm and after transport; P < 0.01 after lairage).
