Abstract

In the context of the Information Society, new Information and Communication Technologies (TICs) and multi-media convergence have radically changed the way in which journalism was previously understood. New media, such as online newspapers, have contributed as well to a change in business models. In this paper we analyze the diverse business models being currently adopted by digital newspapers, their characteristics and their response to the future landscape in journalism business models that is being posed by professional associations such as the American Press Institute (API) and the Newspaper Association of America (NAA).
