Abstract

The YouTube platform or social network, created to disseminate andshare audiovisual content among users, has become an increasingly popular tool for institutions of all types, which use it to provide the general public with information on their activities. In Spain there are 32 biosanitary research institutes accredited by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III. Sixty percent of these institutes (n=19) have a YouTube channel for the dissemination of content related to each of the institutions, as well as different social network accounts to viralise this content. The aim of this study is to analyse how image rights are managed in schools that create audiovisual content and share it on social networks. In general, the production of these contentsis managed by a professional department or production company andno user content is recorded, which shows the management of “informed consent” of the participants of these contents. In conclusion, the channels offer quality content but with a discreet dissemination, given the low rate of views offered by the channels of each institution, although most of the institutions manage the image rights of the collaborators appropriately.
