Some interactive lessons have been made using the swirl package for R for explaining the content of a subject of Statistics. These lessons include explanations using schemes or graphics, examples to be solved by students for a better understanding and exercises to practice. The lessons are developed sequentially, without possibility of skipping questions and with penalties for wrong answers that should be corrected by students to continue. These activities have been an extra homework for students, with timing and incentives for completing them. The present study’s finding supports the apparent consensus of the literature about the improvement of academic achievement when using activities based on technology.
