Abstract
This work exanines the echo-replies in the prototypical interaction sincethey are a very common linguistic resource. While some echo-replies are standard, others are phraseological since their structure is made out of a fixed part which functions as a base and/or modulator of the linguistic sequence produced in the previous turn; their partial formal fixedness allows us to place them within the phraseological field, and within this field, in its peripheral area; most of these units are pragmatic syntactic phraseological structures and pragmatic phraseological utterances. Obviously, the standard echo-replies and the modulating phraseological echo-replies- RFEMshare the same textual, conversational and interactive general features. We find three main differences between the two types. The RFEM do not usually function as conversation transition signals; their meaning is mainly pragmatic and barely semantic; and they show a greater degree of modulation and emphasis than the standard ones.
