Resumen
En este artículo revisaremos la relación entre la sociología y la historia hasta la consolidación del subcampo de la sociología histórica durante la década de los setenta del pasado siglo. Veremos qué temas y problemas teóricos y metodológicos ha enfrentado desde entonces y en qué contexto fueron planteados. Por último, se reflexiona sobre la vigencia de la agenda clásica de la sociología histórica (la formación histórica de los Estados nacionales, los procesos de modernización y desarrollo capitalista o las revoluciones sociales) en el actual contexto social y político, para concluir sobre cómo, paradójicamente, ante un idea de modernidad cuestionada, la mirada de la sociología histórica puede volver a girarse hacia modelos de la sociología clásica.
