Zusammenfassung

Despite the costs involved in international mobility of workers, firms try to boost it by considering it as the main mechanism for transferring knowledge between their locations and, therefore, be more competitive. The international workers´ contribution to the companies depends on how well they adjust when performing an expatriation, and when returning from it when they are repatriated. Recent literature highlights the role of family in this adaptation. However, very few studies have deepened so far on this issue. This job is done, focusing on the adaptation of the repatriate and his/her family from the perspective of the Theory of crossover effects. After reviewing the literature on the topic, a qualitative study has been conducted. It shows that indeed there is a relationship between adaptation of the worker and his/her family.
