As a dedicated researcher in the field of aquaculture nutrition, I have a proven track record of contributing valuable insights to the scientific community through a prolific publication record. With a focus on sustainable and innovative practices in fish nutrition and physiology, my work encompasses a wide range of topics such as determination of nutritional requirements, assessment of various immunostimulants, evaluation of a wide range of alternative protein sources, improving the utilization of plant proteins through microbial fermentation and supplementation with functional additives, and boosting the utilization of high-fat and high-carbohydrate diets through application of bioactive compounds. My research not only assessed the impacts of nutritional factors on the production performance, physiological function, immunological responses, stress tolerance, and disease resistance of fish but also delved into molecular level. This is evident in my publications that characterize essential genes and pathways related to physiological and stress responses, lipid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, and mitochondrial biogenesis amongst others in fish. Furthermore, recognizing the growing significance of gut microbiota in nutrients metabolism and physiology of the host organisms, I have also investigated the influence of nutritional manipulations, particularly the use of alternative feed ingredients, on the microbial composition of fish gut. My research has a clear impact, with 2695 citations, an h-index of 28, and 71 articles in prestigious journals. My intense international activity includes over 12 years of working experience in five universities in South Korea, China, Czech Republic, and Spain. The international community, in turn, recognizes me as an established researcher in the field, trusting me for instance to act as an associate editorial board member for several journals (Frontiers in Marine Science, Frontiers in Physiology, and Animals) and as co-editor/guest editor for several special issue/research topics in several journals (Frontiers in Marine Science, Frontiers in Physiology, Animals, Fishes, and Journal of Marine Science and Engineering). Moreover, I’m serving as a reviewer for 25 journals. To date, as outlined on the Web of Science, I have served as a reviewer of 144 manuscripts and editor of 43 articles. I was recognized as an outstanding reviewer for Fish and Shellfish Immunology journal in 2017.
