Full Professor in the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Murcia. She holds degrees in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering (specialization in Industrial Chemistry), a Master’s degree in Biotechnology, a Master’s degree in Food Technology and Quality, and a PhD in Chemistry, awarded with the Extraordinary Doctoral Prize. Prior to joining the University of Murcia, she developed her academic and scientific career at several national and international institutions, including the University of Granada, Ghent University (Belgium), and the University of Córdoba. Her scientific output includes 120 JCR-indexed publications, four book chapters published by international publishers, and more than 170 contributions to national and international conferences. She has an h-index of 31 and has participated in 22 competitive research projects, as principal investigator in six of them. She has supervised six doctoral theses, three of which received the International Doctoral Mention; two of these were awarded the Extraordinary Doctoral Prize, and one also received the 39th “San Alberto Magno” Doctoral Thesis Award (2021) from the Official College of Chemists of Southern Spain. She is currently involved in the co-supervision of five additional doctoral theses, one of them with an Industrial Mention. Her research career has been recognized through her inclusion, over the past four years, in Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking and in the Socially Most Influential Scientists in Chemistry list (Influscience), as well as through the Female Leadership in Research Award from the University of Murcia. In the field of knowledge transfer, she has participated in 16 research contracts with companies, acting as principal investigator in eight of them, and has served as an expert evaluator and consultant for R&D&I projects. She also carries out an intense outreach and social engagement activity, actively participating in initiatives such as the European Researchers’ Night, student recruitment programmes, and science outreach activities in educational centres. She is a member of the organizing and academic committee of MasterChem, an initiative aimed at promoting scientific vocations. In teaching and educational innovation, she is the principal investigator of the Teaching Innovation Group “Educational Innovation in Analytical Chemistry”. Her teaching activity has been evaluated within the DOCENTIA-UMU programme, receiving the recognition of Teaching Excellence. In academic management, she has held the positions of Secretary of the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Coordinator of the PhD Programme in Basic and Applied Chemistry, and member of the General Doctoral Committee for the Sciences, and since 2023 she has served as Academic Secretary of the International Doctoral School of the University of Murcia.
