Doctor by the Universidad de Murcia with the thesis Abstracción temporal basada en redes de restricciones 2007. Supervised by Dr. José Tomás Palma Méndez, Dr. Roque Luis Marín Morales.

Manuel Campos is a Full Professor of the Department of Computing Languages and Systems at the University of Murcia. He has 3 six-years research terms and 1 six-years transference term by ANEP. He is the author of about 150 scientific publications, having 50 in JCR Q1/Q2 and 7 in D1, 1 conference in GGS Class A ++ according to the ranking (http://gii-grin-scie-rating.scie.es), 6 conferences of recognized prestige ERA CORE A. 60 publications have been carried out in cooperation with medical specialists. He has lead 1 European, 3 national, and 1 regional research project. He has supervised 7 PhD thesis in the field of biomedical informatics. His main activity is focused on innovation and technology transfer. This activity is reflected in results with industrial or intellectual protection: 1 patent and 12 records of intellectual property, including software, and the contracts for the exploitation of such results, either through private contracts with companies or technology transfer projects with hospitals and clinics. He is also a member of the Commission for Knowledge Transference on the University of Murcia. He has received 4 awards in Technology Transference from the University of Murcia. Among the exploitation of results, the main achievement are the contracts associated to the WASPSS software. It integrates any information from the hospital to help ASP teams using IT and Artificial Intelligence. More specifically, WASPSS is a clinical decision support systems design for clinicians at hospitals that helps in the review of antibiotic prescription and follow up of patients with complicated bacterial infections. WASPSS is a product generated in the society challenges research project Wise Antimicrobial Stewardship Support System (WASPSS) TIN2013-45491-R 2013-2017. This software has been licensed with four contracts with public administration to the "Agencia Española del Medicamento y Producto Sanitario" (AEMPS, Spanish Agency for Medicines and Sanitary Products), an Agency dependent on the Spanish Ministry of Health, to the "Servicio Murciano de Salud" (Murcian Healthcare Service), and to Osakidetza (Basque Country Healthcare Service). The total amount of these contracts is above 1.5 million eur, and it allows the use of WASPSS in 20 hospital of 8 different Autonomic Communities in Spain. He is a founding partner of a university spin-off formed in 2017 for the analysis of chronobiological data. This company exploits the patent and the several of the results with industrial protections. In this company, Manuel Campos is the Chief Technology Officer and the activity is focused on the intelligent analysis of data in ambulatory circadian monitoring carried out by exploiting patent number ES2608815 "Ambulatory device for monitoring circadian rhythms, sleep, environments and movement patterns", as well as the protected software for data analysis of circadian rhythms and software from pupillometry. The patent is for a wearable device to monitor patients that we have proved to be equivalent to PSG. Wih this SME, he is the principal investigator in the European Project "Cancer Long Survivors Artificial Intelligence Follow Up (CLARIFY)" (Subproject Kronohealth. ID: 875160, 2019-2022), and has contracts with different clinics in Spain.
