Doctor by the Universidad de Salamanca with the thesis Biología molecular de la fibronectina en hemopatías y procesos afines 1986. Supervised by Dr. Antonio López Borrasca.

Jose M. Moraleda is emeritus professor of Haematology at the University of Murcia School of Medicine, and former director and senior physician at the Department of Hematology and Stem Cell Transplantation and Advanced at the University Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca, and Research Institute IMIB in Murcia, Spain. In 2011 he was appointed coordinator of the Spanish Network of Cell Therapies (TerCel), and in 2021 of the Spanish Network of Advanced Therapies (TeraV). From 2013-2016 he served as president of the Spanish Society of Hematology and Hemotherapy. Dr Moraleda´s scientific research is focused on Stem Cell transplantation, Advanced Therapies and Regenerative Medicine. He has published 226 papers, edited 5 books and written 106 book chapters. His actual Google Scholar H index is 63. i10 index:191.
