Geoconservation has a promising future. After more than two decades of geologists fighting to raise public awareness, very progress has been made in the first decade of the century, at Spain as well as around the world, on the conservation, use and management of geodiversity and geological heritage. The geologists and geoscience societies, far from relaxing, we must continue providing ideas to try that geological heritage get the same treatment as biological and historical heritage, to be also considered as world heritage. Spanish regional governments must adapt their regulations to the new national laws on the nature protection, which fortunately explicitly include geological diversity. The objective of this manuscript is to provide several ideas to help on the design of these future legislation.
