Abstract
Identifying a diet to improve the larval development of the ornamental cleaner shrimp Lysmata amboinensis is an essential factor in order to achieve the captivity rearing. A suitable diet for this shrimp is essential to reduce mortalities observed for the muda to zoea 5 and zoea 10, and to decrease the duration of larval stages. With this aim, the present work describes the larvae survival of L. amboinensis fed with two Artemia salina varieties: one of 430 µm and 19 mg/g HUFAS content; and a second one of 480 µm and 25 mg/g HUFAS content. The observed survival of shrimp fed on the diet of A. salina 480 µm, were improved in days 3, 8 , 10 and 14, due to its high nutritional value. However, more replicates are still necessary to confirm the results.
