Résumé

The purpose of this paper is to put the stress on the importance of encouraging students to seek real knowledge, rather than merely a certificate, at University. With this aim, when a certain subject and its goals are being defined, communication between lecturer and student must follow an interactive process. Among Law University degrees, this gets complicated by the traditional tendency of an ex-cathedra speech by professors. However, this should not be an obstacle to our flexibility when selecting the ideal combination of our pedagogical goals, the student’s profile and means at our disposal at any given moment. Even though most of academic lecturers are aware of the benefits of active class involvement by students, we usually complain about their passive attitude. The main reason for this is the use of a traditional method which did not encourage students to contribute to academic speech. Among other reasons, this has been due to the misuse or abuse of traditional, ex-cathedra lecture methods, as well as the low pedagogical training at faculties.
