Abstract

In this work, we analyze different festive expressions carried out in the LateMiddle Ages and throughout the Modern Age in the South of Valencia. We takeas a case study the city of Orihuela, head of the Government of Orihuela at thattime, the second territorial jurisdiction of the Valencian kingdom and, since 1564,episcopal seat. Its Cathedral was the scene of different festive celebrations stagedin the streets at certain times of the year. The processions of Holy Week, CorpusChristi, the festival of the Reconquest of the city, or the public entrances of thebishops are examples of festivities
