Abstract

The main objective of this research is to determine the relationship between the regular physical levels of adolescents in Southeast Spain and the enjoyment of that activity as well as the differences which exist in relation to gender. The study uses a sample of 583 subjects aged between 14 and 18 years old from different public high schools of the Region of Murcia. A relationship among the different variables has been identified according contingency tables. The results show that men carry out more physical-sports practice than women, both in minutes and METs per week. Our results point out that when levels of enjoyment in the physical activity increase, the levels of regular physical activity increase as well. They also show that the levels of enjoyment are significantly higher in men than women. Therefore, we should foster a physical activity practice for young students which focuses on its enjoyment.
