Zusammenfassung

A 24-year-old male patient came to the emergency department with pain and swelling in the third finger of the left hand after mechanical exertion and was discharged with symptomatic treatment. He returned 20 hours later with worsening symptoms, violaceous coloration of the finger, decreased mobility and erythematous plaques of lymphangitis on the forearm. An emergency surgical cleaning was performed and the patient was admitted for antibiotic treatment. After several days of treatment, progressive necrosis of the finger was observed and amputation of the finger was decided, cultures were positive for Streptococcus pyogenes.
