Abstract

This research analyzes the construction of Afro-descendant identities in Espejo de Paciencia (1608) by the Canarian author Silvestre de Balboa. First time, we analize the identity configuration of the Afro-descendant character known as Salomón Golomón within Balboa’s speech.. Next, we show the transcription, publication and dissemination of the Balboa ́s work by Pedro Agustín Morell de Santa Cruz in his work Historia de la Isla y Catedral de Cuba (1760). Finally, some conclusions and open lines of research are provided with which to reflect on the very process of construction of Afro-descendant identities in the Atlantic space.
