Abstract

For more than a decade in Spain it has been a construction boom unprecedented that filled with buildings and covered with cement much of its territory and led to the current economic crisis, which in turn meant a drastic and sudden stopping of this sector. This boom was based on a capitalist conception of land, often linked to corruption, and profoundly changed the landscape and the environment was relegated to the background. The places hardest hit were the coastal areas because their great tourist influx, specifically those that based their development model in residential tourism. In this article we address these issues by focusing on one of the places that we considered paradigmatic, particularly a region in the southeastern of Spain called Vega Baja del Segura.
