Abstract

In this visual-virtual global and risk society the concept of security and the politics of securitization have turned into a myth with its rituals that support a status quo ideology produced by power-knowledge structures, which reclaim their democratic power legitimacy. And according to their protocol of interpretations of human events, which are considered as an existential threat and presented as knowledge-reality-truth, the image and essence of the ‘other’ has been constructed as an enemy-homo sacer with no emotions and human feelings. This article sustains the argument that anthropology of security is an anthropology of emotions and not an anthropology of conflicts. And in this theoretical framework the anthropology of emotions needs to analyse security as an emotion, both at macro and micro levels, which is culturally constructed and negotiated between the individual and his/her community.
