Resum

This work focuses on the archaeological contextualization and archaeometric analysis of a cup that imitates a Type C Attic kylix manufactured in the workshop of Castellar de Librilla (R. Murcia, Spain). The analytical program was designed based on applying portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) to investigate the chemical composition and thinsection optical microscopy for its petrographic characterisation. The archaeometric results reveal the local production of this cup, although the ceramic exam suggests that there must have been some problem during its manufacture that caused its collapse. This opens interesting perspectives on the circulation of this type of cup and the skills of the Iberian potters when trying to reproduce exogenous vessels using their techniques and aesthetics, although their attempts did not always end well.
