Abstract

The current economic situation and the progressive loss of relevant jobs has generated discussion among of qualities valued by employers in the selection of workers. This paper aims to analyze the role of the individual factors of the unemployed in the perception among employers both in employing people. The interview of subjective perceiving has been applied to 174 unemployed people (73,3% men, 26,7% women) registered at the labour offices of Andalucia (Spain). The information analysis was carried out with the ATLAS.ti v8 program. The results show that the participants considered the factors age, sex, social and family situation, work experience and long-term unemployment as determinants in the selection of candidates. It concludes that it is necessary to promote individual and group counseling actions, as well as the participation of employers in engagement of people aged over 45.
