Abstract

This paper analyses some of the mathematical models that were proposed for the study of polyhedra in secondary education between 1955 and 1960. It considers the proposals developed by Puig Adam, professor at the Instituto San Isidro (Madrid), and others inspired by them, such as those of Puig Sabadell. The sources consulted were mainly the methodological works that Puig Adam addressed to secondary school teachers and the professional journal Enseñanza Media. The study shows that these authors considered that the construction of models in the classroom favours creative activity and the understanding of spatial relations among pupils.
