Resumen
Multiculturalist theories and policies have been criticized from different viewpoints. One of them arguments that such theories have made their analysis starting from a reified concept of culture. This also implies that multicultural policies tend to the formation and supporting of different religious and ethnic elites of leaders that keep and maintain inequalities inside the group. There have been many responses to these criticisms. Among them we focus on new perspectives in the study of cultural diversity, based on Stuart Hall and Homi Bhabhas concepts of «new ethnicities» and «hibridity», which have given rise to innovative approachs in both multiculturalist theories and policies.
