Abstract

The aim of this study was to design and validate a set of observational instruments to assess technical actions in the initiation to volleyball. The set of observational instruments allows us to assess the execution of the overhead pass, forearm pass, underhand serve, overhand serve, spike, and block in relation to the achievement of key aspects of the movement. A review of the specialized literature was done to establish criteria for observation. The content validation of the instrument was established qualitatively (degree of understanding, appropriateness of wording, relevance of questions, etc.) and quantitatively (global assessment on a scale from 0 to 10) through agreement and consensus by ten expert judges. All instruments had an evaluation greater than 8.5 out of 10 by the experts. From the results, it can be established that all the instruments have content validity to evaluate the execution of technical actions in the initiation to volleyball.
