Resumen

The purpose of this study was to find out study the effect of overhead pass initiation in volleyball with games and with analytic tasks on ball control and student's perception of the process. The sample consisted of 38 Spanish high school students (16-17 years old). The independent variable was the task type employed by the teacher (games and analytic tasks). The dependent variables were: number of contacts, number of interruptions, level of continuity of the task, and student's perception. The dependent variables were obtained by posterior video analysis and with a survey of eight questions about student's perception of the tasks realized and the learning process. The results show a higher increase in ball control with games in overpass initiation; and both task types increase the self-perception of student ability in overpass execution.
