Resumen
Digital Society includes nowadays innovative teaching strategies that enable a deeper interaction with students and the incorporation of new media applications to combine a large diversity of signs. As a result of the use of Internet and Information Technology (IT) in educative processes, e-learning systems are becoming more present in higher education. From a semiotic perspective the aim of this study is to ellaborate a typology of the most significant signs in Moodle. This is one of the most popular Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in Spain and in the rest of the world for e-learning purposes. This Course Management System enable to build a virtual campus, extremely intuitive and easy to use, where the professor may use different online teaching tools. The growing presence of these kind of systems is generating new social-comunicative concepts, unpredictable not long time ago in academic atmosphere. A systematic analysis from a semiotic perspective will help us understand some of the keys to disambiguate and multimedia messages in Moodle environment and to optimize the use of communication resources in virtual learning contexts.
