Abstract

Adequate salivary production is an essential prerequisite for oral comfort and health. Objective: this investigation evaluated a procedure to measure the quantity of secretion by the minor salivary glands from various locations in the mouth before and after citric simulation. Material and methods: the study population consisted of 22 men and women, who exhibited good general and oral health. Each participant was assessed same specific areas of mucosa labial, buccal and palatal. The strips wered read with a Periotron device. Results: the rates of flow the bucal was significantly greater than those from the lip and palate. The sflow from glands not influenced by gender. Conclusion: this method proved to be simple, accurate and reliable for measuring the secretions the minor salivary glands.
