Resumen

The Spanish Geological Society through its Geoheritage Commission actively participated in the draft of Law 21/2015, of July 20, which modifies Law 43/2003, of November 21, of Forestry. The results were bittersweet because, from the 28 amendments that were submitted, only one of them was partially accepted: the 13th article now says that Geosites can be listed as a public utility. Nevertheless, the opposition political parties that presented the amendments during the parliamen- tary process had adopted practically all other amendments, both in the Chamber of Deputies (Official Gazette of the Courts, 10-A-128-2, dated 7/5/2015), and in the Senate (Official Gazette of the Courts, 541, dated 6/15/2015). However, during the final vote in the Chamber of Deputies, all our proposals were rejected. This article summarizes the proposals presented and their justification.
