Resumen
Os livros eletrônicos (e-books) começaram a chegar às bibliotecas de forma intensa e incessante no início dos anos 2000 e causaram efeitos disruptivos em comportamentos de uso e, em especial, em técnicas de tratamento, acesso, organização e preservação. Entretanto, existem poucas informações sobre o que está acontecendo nas bibliotecas universitárias brasileiras em relação aos processos temáticos realizados em e-books. Com o objetivo de conhecer a repercussão que a incorporação massiva de e-books nos sistemas de bibliotecas universitárias do Brasil está causando nos processos de atribuição de cabeçalhos de assuntos e códigos de classificação, bem como conhecer as percepções dos bibliotecários frente à introdução deste novo formato, foi realizada pesquisa exploratória com aplicação de questionário via e-mail aos diretores ou chefes de processos técnicos de 219 bibliotecas universitárias no Brasil. Os 24 questionários respondidos foram analisados em cinco categorias: atribuição de cabeçalhos de assuntos; atribuição de código de classificação; ferramentas de descoberta; "Frustração" ou "estresse" entre bibliotecários e mudança de paradigma; e, Automatização da atribuição de assuntos e códigos de classificação. Em comparação com resultados obtidos de questionários respondidos por bibliotecários de outros países, observou-se que existem impasses a serem solucionados para as indagações sobre processos tradicionais de atribuição de cabeçalhos de assuntos e códigos de classificação, o estresse e frustração no enfrentamento de uma provável mudança de paradigma e a possibilidade de automatização na atribuição de assuntos e códigos de classificação. Conclui-se que uma transição ainda está em andamento sem uma definição clara de políticas e normativas que guiem os bibliotecários brasileiros.
