Zusammenfassung

This work focuses on the study of air pollution by nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter of 10 and 2.5 microns (PM10 and PM2.5), in the busiest roundabouts or squares of the spanish city of Murcia. The 5 places selected for the study were Plaza Circular, Cruz Roja and Ingeniero de la Cierva and the roundabout between Abenarabi-Juan Carlos I and Reino de Murcia-Juan Carlos I. Around 80 measurement points were ubicated in each square following a spiral sampling strategy. The concentration levels of NO2, PM10 and PM2.5 at each of these points were determined using the Flow 2.0 portable device. From these experimental values, using the Surfer software, concentration maps were elaborated for each day, square and compound, allowing the evaluation of the behaviour and distribution of the pollutants, and, taking into account the exposure limit values, possible risk areas were identified, quantifying the level exceeded and proposing mitigation strategies. On the other hand, in order to establish a possible behaviour pattern for each pollutant, all the pollution data for each square were normalized and a statistical study (ANOVA) was carried out to verify the existence, or not, of significant differences between concentrations. Finally, the contribution of biogenic sources, such as Saharan dust episodes, to particulate matter was analyzed.
