Zusammenfassung

Inline hockey is an exciting fast-paced game similar to ice hockey played with sticks, skates with wheels in line and puck. Currently there is a lack of research regarding injuries occurring during inline hockey. The aim of this study was to review the epidemiological studies on injuries in inline hockey and to provide information on its injury patterns and characteristics. Relevant studies were searched for in the following data bases: Medline (Ovid), Pub Med, Cochrane Library, ENFISPO, SPORTDiscus, Lilacs Teseo, as well as Google search engine. Only three epidemiological studies on inline hockey were found and a database by Consumer Product Safety Commission. The most of injuries were located in lower extremity. The most common location was ankle, knee and shoulder. Contact was the most common mechanism of injury. However, noncontact skating injuries were very common among inline hockey players. The most common type of injuries was sprain, strain and fractures. Inline hockey injuries showed different severity levels, despite severe injuries are very common. Future researchers are needed to identify risk factors of injury for the initiation of preventive programs. Continued surveillance is warranted to evaluate inline hockey injury trends over time.
