Resumen

Carmen de Burgos stands out in the literature of the nineteenthcentury for her prolific work as a narrator and journalist, althoughshe was also the author of academic texts, travel books, essaysand poetry. One of the facets of her most interesting and unknownproduction is that of editor and translator, a task she carried outin different progressive publishing houses, like the ValencianSempere, Maucci from Barcelona or Serra and Rivadeneyra inMadrid. With respect to Italian culture, after her great criticaledition of Leopardi's works published in 1911, Colombinemaintained a constant interest in literature and the press of thisyoung country. Present paper analyzes the essay versions of PaoloMantegazza, Roberto Bracco and other journalists that shediscovered on her first Italian journey and subsequently shepurposed in Spain in order to promote reflection on the conditionof modern women.
