Nowadays, the necessity of a symbiotic relationship between the family and the center where the children are studying is an indisputable fact. For that reason, the literature about the family- school com- munication is quite abundant. However, most of the empirical studies on this subject are addressed from (use) a descriptive perspective with not very large samples. Therefore, the objective of our study was to observe the existence of significant differences between the ratings given by the families of stu- dents studying in non-universitary centers in the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia regarding to their responsibility in the school institution, based on the educational stage, the ownership of the Centre and the core population where the centre is located. To do this, 2.494 families selected by stratified random sampling, have participated in the research. The collection of information has been made with a comprehensive questionnaire that integrates eight dimensions. Results have relied on the evaluated dimension, while the general tendency is that they do exist significant differences in the eval- uations made by the families depending on the considered variables
