Resumen

This article presents the results of a survey that was conducted in several scientific and technical translation classes in an effort to gather information on students’ opinions regarding scientific and technical texts and their translation. This type of information is relevant to the design of teaching programs and didactic materials. The survey questions were stated in a way that allowed students to express in their own terms their needs and interests with regard to scientific and technical translation. Through a process of “contents analysis” the answers were reduced to a number of “key ideas” so as to make it possible to quantify and statistically analyze the students’ opinions.
