Abstract

This paper is a linguistic study of the military aeronautical briefing. Word class, nature (military/non military words), acronymy and language as well as their in terrelationship will be explored, even from a thematic perspective. Military and aeronautical linguistic research has mainly been limited to dictionaries and glossaries (e.g. Bowyer, 2004 [8] and AA.VV., 2012 [1]). A mixed meth ods research was adopted in this study. The participant was an experienced pilot o fficer ranked as a lieutenant and an air-to-ground mission briefing was used as a corpus. Our results reve aled, among others, that acronymy and English have a high presence in military words.
