Resumo

The notion of symbol fits in a representational horizon built by humans. In the case of the work of Román Gil, this symbolic idea goes through several simultaneous areas, ranging from the very conception of book, which uses to change the canon of the artist's book, while generating a whole rhetoric of materials and pictorial keys to develope an iconographic program that supports the interpretation of art as a form of self-portrait.
