Resumo

Air transport is a central component of tourism development. The development and competitiveness of air transport is absolutely determinant for tourism development, in the same way that the growth of the airline industry depends heavily on developments in the tourism sector. In this paper we analyze the airport equipment and air accessibility in the Region of Murcia, because current deficits are a significant obstacle to overcome if the political powers intend to continue the growth of tourism activities. San Javier Airport, which in recent years has reduced its traffic, does not meet adequate conditions to fulfill, at the same time, the military function and the function of a civil airport of touristic use fundamentally. Moreover, in mid-2016, Corvera airport (Murcia International Airport) has completed four years without open to the traffic.
