Abstract

The main purpose was to compare the efficacy of different durations of a passive stretching to improve hip flexion range of motion (ROM) in young adults. A total of 74 young adults were randomly distributed into 4 groups, a control group and 3 experimental groups. The stretch duration (12x15 seconds, 6x30 seconds and 4x45 seconds) was the training load parameter which was studied. All experimental groups performed the same training load with a total of 180 seconds of stretching per session, with 3 sessions per week during Significant improvements in ROM were showed between pre and post measurement for all experimental groups (p<0.01), although no significant differences were found among different stretching durations.
