Resum

Previous studies on family participation show that the relationship between families and schools is lower than desirable. The complexity of the value of family involvement, add both institutions, which have experienced a substantial transformation in a relatively little time, which calls into question its educational role. In an attempt to help clarify the state of the relationship in the spanish moment, we propose main objective of this work to analyze the sense of belonging of families in schools as a hub of communication and participation between the two educational institutions. The final sample selected and stratified consisted of 14.126 parents from around the country, to which was applied a questionnaire developed for this purpose. The most relevant results show that the feeling of belonging to parents about the school where their children attend school is significantly higher, in general, young parents, who are developing an occupation, parents in higher studies as well as those families whose children get higher average grades school. By contrast, parents with older, who are unemployed or engaged in household chores (for parents) and whose children get average grades of suspense, have a sense of belonging to significantly lower center.
