Resumen

The needs of modern society have reinvented creativity as one of human’s basic strengths, associating it with positive personality traits. The European Union declared the year 2009 as the European Year of Creativity and Innovation, pointing to creativity as a key notion in economy and education. Translation teaching has also been attracted to the benefits of creativity. At the beginning of the 21st century, we already find the first studies that analyse the role of creativity in translation teaching by applying a methodology based on empirical classroom observations. However, to date no specific course has been designed to foster the creativity of translation students. This paper aims to design a series of tasks oriented to foster creativity as one of the basic competences in the translation process. These tasks are part of the contents of the subject Translation Methodology and Practice (University of Murcia) and their are based on a series of objectives aimed to promote the four central traits of creativity according to Bayer-Hohenwarter (2010): fluidity, adequacy, flexibility and novelty.
