Frecuencia, duración, intensidad y niveles de actividad física durante el tiempo libre en la población adulta de Monterrey (Nuevo León, México)

Abstract

The physical activity must be performed under certain parameters to achieve health benefits. The adults must meet at least 30 minutes of physical activity of moderate to vigorous intensity, 5 or more times per week. The aims in this paper are focused in determinate if the object people of the research achieve with the recommendations of healthy physical practice. Also to examine if there are differences between the levels of physical activity according to the gender, age and level of studies of the habitants of Monterrey city (Mexico). A transversal study is presented. The sample comprised 1,008 individuals of 15 years old or older (498 male= 49.4% and 510 female= 50.6%; M=36.57; SD=17.05, Range=15-87). Results reveal an extreme worrying situation about the physical activity practice. Only a quarter of the whole sample (26%) achieve with the minimal lineaments to receive the healthy benefits of the physical activity. In counterpart, the rest of the participants (74%) mentioned being inactive or having low level of physical activities, insufficient to get healthy effects.
