Resumo
The purpose of this work is to analyze the prevalence of oral habits in a psychically handicapped population, a group of 233 individuals affected by cerebral palsy, oligophrenia and Down's syndrome, coming from special education centres of Murcia, aged between 5 and 25. All of them presented mental retardation in higher or lower degree. Study sample was exposed to a systematized exploration, after which, we observed the most often habit was tongue thrust, specially in Down's syndrome group, as well as in the group showing a severe mental retardation.
