Resumen

The study of athletic burnout syndrome has received much attention from the scientific community over the past twenty years, new research perspectives has been developed and an approach to the motivational aspects, like the use of the Achievement Goals Theory and Self-Determination Theory. Longitudinal, cross-sectional and/or qualitative studies remain limited, hindering the understanding of how this syndrome evolves over time. The analysis of the relationship between perfectionism and burnout can establish new contributions; as well as specific intervention studies in the sport field should be formulated.
